Hydro Scabbling

The fast and simple way to remove the top surface layer of concrete or asphalt.

Hydro scabbling/ scarification is a process that uses a high-pressure water jet (20,000-40,000 psi) to remove the top layer of concrete or asphalt. The conventional method of concrete scabbling has generally been reliant on percussive methods such as scabble machine, jackhammering and grinding.

Hydro scabbling is far superior to jackhammering for a number of reasons:

  • It is much faster and more efficient
  • It leaves the concrete pores open giving better surface ‘key’ to apply coatings
  • It causes less damage to the structure, no microcracks and leaves the reinforcement steel intact
  • It has environmental benefits by eliminating harmful Silica dust exposure, reducing the reverberations caused by jackhammers and noise reduction
